The Philippines has a lot of beautiful natural resources and vacation places. Most of these vacation places are beaches and one of the most popular spot is Boracay. Little do tourists and Filipinos' as well know that the country has a lot of beautiful mountain resorts. I work in a call center and usually we have team buildings. These team buildings will consist of laughs, drinks and abundance of food. During our last team building, we chose Patag which is in Silay, Negros Occidental for the venue. Patag is a barangay which is found in the mountains of Silay and has a lot of beautiful mountain resorts. Falls that are just marvelous to look at and the temperature of the place is a lot colder compared to the city.
The water is ice cold too! It felt like I was doing the ice bucket challenge.
It's not that expensive to stay there too! We were composed of around 15 people and we rented a small house with two rooms in a mountain resort called Ladlad. They have their own swimming pool, a small "tiangge" that you could buy food, water, drinks, etc. I'm not really sure though if you can order food. We bought our own food with the budget that we had and I forgot to ask if they indeed serve or cook food. But it was fun preparing and cooking food with my team. I was mostly drinking while they were preparing the food but it was a blast. It was a good thing that I brought my very thick jacket because around 8 PM in the evening you can feel the air starting to get cooler and cooler. Paring the cold atmosphere with a cheap bottle of rum was the perfect trigger for more laughs and drunken conversations.
My overall experience in Patag was great. I missed some nature spots because I was still hungover the night before but overall it was still fun and if you have the chance to go their with your buddies or family, go for it. If you're commuting, it's not that hard to go there but it would be better if you had your own car or service. People are friendly there and if you want to have a cool, relaxing night away from the city, Patag is just a couple of hours away from the buzzing city of Bacolod. What are other mountain resorts in the Philippines that you had the chance to go to? Tell me about it! :)
